An interview with Primedia Outdoors’ COVID-19 Manager, Ravi Naicker.

Ravi Naicker, Operations Executive at Primedia Outdoor has been appointed as Primedia Outdoors’ COVID-19 Manager and has been working around the clock to ensure that the company complies with all COVID-19 regulations as prescribed by Government. Primedia Outdoor interviewed Ravi to learn more:

Primedia Outdoor: Tell us more about Ravi Naicker?

Ravi Naicker: I am 51 years old, married for 27 years with 2 children. I have strong religious beliefs and as family comes first, I deeply care for people and their well-being. My leisure time is spent on gardening or fishing.

Primedia Outdoor: What is your leadership style and what is your staff compliment?

Ravi Naicker: My leadership style is both transformational and coaching. I set high goals with strict deadlines and work with my team to accomplish them on time. I try most of the time to coach and supervise my team which I believe helps to groom, motivate and improve their skills and knowledge. I have 26 staff reporting directly to me; I also oversee 6 regional offices & over 50 contractors and sub-contractors.

Primedia Outdoor: What is the role of your department within Primedia Outdoor?

Ravi Naicker: The role of the department is to plan, co-ordinate, service and maintain the structural and digital assets in accordance with Primedia’s standards and the OSH Act 85 of 1993. The department is also responsible for the successful implementation of projects in line with Primedia’s strategy.

Primedia Outdoor: What do you like most about working for Primedia Outdoor?

Ravi Naicker: Primedia Outdoors’ values are the same that I live by and they have a stable, honest and approachable leadership team with a diverse compliment of people who come together to execute a common goal.

Primedia Outdoor: How do you evaluate success?

Ravi Naicker: In my personal capacity by the joy & happiness I feel in knowing that I have given my best in achieving my goals. In my work life I evaluate success by the value of my contribution in grooming, motivating and improving the skills and knowledge of my team and those around me.

Primedia Outdoor: What improvements do you expect to see within the OOH industry in the next three to five years?

Ravi Naicker: I’m hopeful that we will start to see a more regulated OOH industry with a better review of the current bylaws of the various municipalities.

Ravi Naicker is a valued employee and has been employed with Primedia Outdoor for the past 12 years. He first joined the company in 2008 as the National Sales Manager and after five years of excelling in his role, Ravi moved over to the Operations Department as the Divisional Executive. Ravi has since also been appointed as Primedia Outdoor’s Business Continuity Manager as well as the 16.2 (Head of Health & Safety) as per the OSH Act 85 of 1993 & Clause 16.5 (COVID-19 Manager) of The Disaster Management Act 57 of 2002.
