It’s always rewarding to see companies providing opportunities to communities that bear the brunt of unemployment and find themselves caught up in cycles of poverty that are difficult to break.

I Am Green, is that kind of company. Primedia Outdoor recently donated a substantial volume of used billboard faces to I Am Green, to repurpose the material and produce bags for a client hosting a Medical Aid Association Conference in Cape Town.

In August 2015 30 people from the local community were employed for a month and trained in the basic production methods required to assemble the bags.

While Primedia Outdoor has been recycling or rather repurposing the old billboard faces for many years already, a collaborative initiative like this is always welcome and does make a difference, however small, in the lives of the people recruited to participate in the process.
