Every year for the past five years the management and staff at Primedia Outdoor have sacrificed their year-end party and volunteered to participate in what is now referred to as the annual Gift To Give initiative.
This year, in consultation with local government, Motheo Primary School was selected as the beneficiary of stationary, learning materials, school bags and of course, juices and snacks.
In anticipation of the arrival of the acting Executive Mayor, Subesh Pillay and the contingent of volunteers from Primedia Outdoor, learners had prepared an entertainment programme consisting of gumboot dancers, traditional dancers, their impressive choir and a well rehearsed, articulate speech by a senior girl.
Kennedy Tshabala, the Development Executive at Primedia Outdoor did and admirable job as master of ceremonies, and had the learners and guests suitably amused when he referred to CEO, Dave Roberts, as Father Christmas.
As always, the handout of the stationary packs and school bags, was the highlight of the day, with toothy smiles and happy faces, ample reward for the volunteers and clearly expressing the depth of appreciation of the learners.
Credit should be given to the Principal, Joyce Nkomo, who spearheads a team that has not only instilled discipline in their wards but also imbued them with creativity and cultural values.
The response to our Gift to Give is it’s own reward and without exception, is an event that continues to be a highlight on our CSI calendar.
